The PRESS AND MEDIA - Published a VIVID Report of the EVENT Participation
Socially Yearning Network for Environment, Reach-out, Growth Youth, a group of young students from various institutions across UAE have been working with the sole purpose to support various environment trepidations and SynergY is the initiative started by none other than the Eco Generation Middle East Ambassador- Simran Vedvyas.
Shored up by Tadweer, the Echo of the Environment and Dubai Municipality, together celebrated the U.A.E. National Environment Day 2013 on Saturday making the best use of their day-off from schools, by planting trees and taking a tour of TADWEER facility getting a better insight into waste management and pledging to contribute their best by advocating that everyone must adopt an Eco-lifestyle.
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, every year the country marks the National Environment Day on February 4 to highlight and galvanize public action and awareness about one of the key environmental issues in the UAE. The National Environment Day supports the spirit of individual and collective initiatives and responsibility among all segments of the society on environmental issues.
Simran Vedvyas, the founder of SynergY and UAE?s youngest Torch Bearer who brought pride to the nation by carrying the London Olympic Torch 2012 reaffirmed the pledge by saying – ?We youth are the next Champions. The Challenge today is to adopt more sustainable lifestyles. Each one of us has a responsibility to live peacefully without jeopardizing the natural resources. We need to act now by convening, converging and collaborating?. Simran is a student of The Millennium School Dubai, UAE. Simran is well known in the community today for her contribution to environment, and health initiatives. Twice the winner of Sheikh Hamdan Award and sharjah Award for Educational Excellence in 2012 and 2009-2008 Simran has shouldered a big responsibility of this noble cause which will inspire and motivate many students to gain a more sustainable society. Present during the event Mr. Haitham Shaqwara, General Manager from Tadweer motivated the group by emphasizing ?the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling of waste. We are also thankful to On the one hand Aishwarya Shetty a student from Our Own English High School Sharjah considered that–?Planting and caring for seedling trees helps young people to learn about the natural world and the value of trees in it? and on the other Ananya Jain who studies at Dubai International Academy promised to take back the days? learning to use in her project work and share it with her friends too. Zaid Haddadin, who studies at the Repton School , Dubai and aspires to be a Software Engineer felt content planting the tree and understanding the importance of reducing waste too. Sayedda Zahra, studies in Indian High School and has participated in Dubai Earth Hour, Recycling events and walks regularly. Unmesh Datta, also Eco Generation Ambassador, a member and student from DPS Sharjah cited the reason of his presence– ?As a fervent environmentalist, I always try to do whatever is possible for me to save our green planet. I feel that having first-hand information by visiting a waste recycling plant would be a great experience for us.? He also brought in some friends along to participate in the event. Touring the factory, the youngsters got an opportunity to see the process of solid waste sorting and recycling, understanding the sorting process and end products. This event is a testimony of Tadweer's mission that goes beyond the commercial purposes and aims at creating and establishing a quality environment through educational partnerships and leadership, increasing waste reduction, recycling and resource conservation. Such innovative participation will certainly put UAE on the path of zero waste generation, and will turn solid waste from a burden to a resource and also contribute in reducing carbon foot print. |

Hi Simran. If you remember, I am Shreya Srinivas from India. I commented in the Notice section to congratulate you. Actually, I just wanted to share that I too am doing this project of Home Composting as a part of Waste Management. I have recently taken this to a new level. This April, I would be starting this project in my school as well. I would like to interact with you regarding all the environmental activities that you are involved in. Thanks.
