By the pledge in UNCHE, United Nations Conference on Human Environment,
in 1972, established on the 27th conference to facilitate international cooperation,
increase knowledge and awareness of the environment.
The program focuses on technical works related to environmental observation,
and evaluation. Development, natural disaster, energy, and management are
also included.
UNEP files annual report on effects of increase in population,
and cities on natural resources and environment.
Increase awareness of the governments and file complete reports
on environment in every 5years.
On September 1987, 'Montreal Protocol was selected and pressed for cooperation
of each government on Ozone conservation.
UNEP also established Global Environmental Monitoring System,
and international data base to provide information on water quality, atmosphere,
chemicals to organizations and individuals.
UNEP also administer international chemical registration to collect world wide
information.
Programs for teenagers and kids by UNEP:TUNZA
TUNZA is a word in Kiswahili (the common language of most East African countries)
that means to "treat with care".
The programme is based on a strategy that aims to provide young people
with information and tools on how to "treat Mother Earth with care"
and how to Act for a better word.
UNEP works in partnership with Children from all over the world.
Children are represented by Junior Board which is elected every 2 years during UNEP's
TUNZA International Children's Conference.
